First Responder Support Group Returns to North Bay This September

A Space for Connection, Support, and Community

First responders spend their careers showing up for others, often during some of the most difficult moments of people’s lives.

But who creates space for them?

This September, Arthur Henry’s First Responder Support Group is returning to Healing Connections, providing a welcoming and confidential place for first responders to connect with others who understand the realities of service.

The group resumes Monday, September 14, 2026, and will meet weekly from 7:00–8:30 PM.

Healing Connections Psychotherapy is pleased to donate the meeting space for Arthur’s group as part of our ongoing commitment to supporting first responders and frontline professionals in our community.

About the Group

First responder work comes with experiences that can be difficult to explain to those outside of the profession.

Repeated exposure to emergencies, critical incidents, organizational pressures, shift work, responsibility for others, and the cumulative weight of a career in service can affect far more than the hours spent on the job.

Sometimes what is needed is simply a place to connect with people who get it.

Arthur’s First Responder Support Group provides an opportunity for conversation, connection, and support in an environment created specifically with first responders in mind.

There is no expectation to have everything figured out before attending, and no expectation to share more than you are comfortable sharing.

Meet Arthur Henry

The group is facilitated by Arthur Henry, M.A., Registered Psychotherapist, founder of Arthur Henry Counselling and Organizational Consultation.

Arthur brings 36 years of service in the Royal Canadian Air Force, providing him with a unique understanding of service culture and many of the challenges that can accompany careers dedicated to protecting and helping others.

The group welcomes firefighters, paramedics/EMS, police, dispatchers, corrections personnel, and other first responder and public safety professionals.

Healing Connections Is Donating the Space

While this is Arthur Henry’s independently facilitated group, Healing Connections Psychotherapy is proud to provide the physical space for the group at no cost.

We believe strengthening access to first responder support requires collaboration. Sometimes supporting mental health in our community means providing therapy. Other times, it means opening a door, offering a room, and helping people find one another.

We’re happy to be able to do that.

Participants in Arthur’s group will also have access to BrainTap and Red Light Therapy at no cost through Healing Connections Psychotherapy.
