At Healing Connections Psychotherapy, we believe that supporting mental health and community wellbeing goes far beyond the therapy room. For the third season in a row, we are proud to sponsor the NBFD Bruisers, a team in the North Bay Slo-Pitch Association League made up of members of North Bay Fire & Emergency Services.
First responders play an essential role in our community. They show up in moments of crisis, uncertainty, and loss—often carrying the emotional weight of those experiences long after the call is over. As a clinic deeply committed to supporting trauma recovery, resilience, and the wellbeing of those who serve others, we feel honoured to stand behind the people who dedicate their lives to protecting our community.
Our sponsorship helps support the team throughout the season and contributes to the resources they need to participate in the league. This year, Healing Connections provided a $1,000 sponsorship, and our clinic logo will once again be displayed proudly on the back of the Bruisers’ jerseys.
While softball may seem like a simple recreational activity, it represents something much bigger. Sports create opportunities for connection, stress relief, teamwork, and camaraderie—all of which are incredibly important for individuals working in high-stress professions. Having spaces where first responders can decompress, laugh together, and build supportive relationships is a powerful form of resilience in itself.
At Healing Connections, we often talk about the importance of community in healing. Recovery from stress, trauma, and life’s challenges rarely happens in isolation. It happens through connection—through shared experiences, support networks, and spaces where people feel understood and valued.
That’s why we are so proud to support initiatives that strengthen those connections.
Sponsoring the NBFD Bruisers is one small way we can give back to the individuals who give so much of themselves to our community. It’s also a reminder that mental health care isn’t just about therapy sessions—it’s about building healthier communities where people feel supported both on and off the field.
To the members of the NBFD Bruisers: thank you for the work you do every day to keep North Bay safe. We’re proud to stand behind you and look forward to cheering you on throughout the season.
Here’s to another great year of teamwork, community spirit, and a few big hits along the way.
