Miranda Arellano
My transformative experience with therapy during my youth ignited a passion for helping others, leading me to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Counselling in Counselling Psychology. As a trauma-informed Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), I serve clients in North Bay, Ontario, providing compassionate support for challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, CPTSD, relationship issues, addiction, anger management, chronic pain, grief, infidelity, and stress.

Specializing in EMDR Therapy, I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and an EMDRIA Approved Consultant-In-Training. My advanced training includes protocols for addictions, early trauma, dissociation, recent and ongoing traumatic stress, acute stress stabilization, and the Flash Technique. Some of the specialized EMDR approaches I use include:

-
Desensitization of Triggers and Urge Reprocessing (DeTUR) for addictions
-
EMDR Protocol for Recent Critical Incidents and Ongoing Traumatic Stress (EMDR-PRECI)
-
Acute Stress Syndrome Stabilization (ASSYST) for individuals and groups
-
Integrative Group Treatment Protocol for Ongoing Traumatic Stress (IGTP-OTS) for individuals and groups
-
When There Are No Words: EMDR for Early Trauma and Neglect
-
Looking Through the Eyes of Trauma and Dissociation
-
Flash Technique and 4 Blinks Version of Flash
-
Ego State Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS)

In addition to EMDR, I integrate trauma-informed modalities such as the Gottman Method for couples therapy, addressing issues like affairs, addictions, and trauma within relationships. My personal experience with trauma and EMDR Therapy deeply fuels my commitment to this work.

I also support clinicians in advancing their EMDR skills to better serve their clients, offering trauma-informed EMDR consultation. Whether working with individuals, couples, or children, I strive to create a safe, collaborative environment for healing and growth.

I look forward to walking alongside you on your path to well-being.

Most of us have different aspects, “parts,” or “ego states” of ourselves. “Ego state therapy” refers to a powerful, flexible therapy that helps clients integrate and reconcile these distinct aspects of themselves.

When There Are No Words
EMDR Intensives
ASSYST-I focuses on nervous system regulation and is used in rapid response settings, providing immediate support within hours to weeks after trauma. ASSYST-G is a group procedure bridging the gap between Psychological First Aid and high-intensity psychotherapy for individuals showing severe distress after a critical incident.
Sandra Paulsen’s work, "When There Are No Words," explores how EMDR therapy can address deep-seated or implicit trauma that is difficult to articulate. Her approach emphasizes the use of non-verbal techniques to help clients process and heal from unspoken emotional wounds. It is useful for repairing neglect and trauma from the attachment period.
An EMDR intensive is a more immersive and therapeutic experience than traditional EMDR
sessions. It typically involves several hours of therapy per day, over a period of several days, with the goal of achieving rapid trauma resolution. This format allows for a deeper and more thorough processing of traumatic memories than is possible in traditional weekly sessions.

Looking Through the Eyes of Trauma and Dissociation
"Looking Through the Eyes of Trauma and Dissociation" by Sandra Paulsen delves into how early trauma impacts brain development and leads to dissociation. The book provides insights and strategies for using EMDR and ego state therapy to treat complex trauma, particularly in cases where dissociation is present.
